On February 23, 2008, the Mississippi Delta chapter of SAE held its eighth annual Chili Bowl and raised a record $14,070 for the Lifeshare Foundation in Jackson, Mississippi. Apart from this substantial donation, MS Delta has also given notable monetary donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and to the “Nothing but Nets” campaign to prevent malaria. Apart from a few of our spare bills, we have also donated many hours of our time to our Jackson community’s Good Samaritan Center. Just before Christmas break, we raised an 18-foot Christmas tree in their warehouse and decorated the entire building to help set the tone for the Christmas season. Not long ago, the chapter had a “deconstruction day” at the Good Samaritan center, where we demolished an entire room, painted walls, and prepared other areas of their facilities for improvements.
MS Delta is the proud recipient of the Chapter Achievement, Campus Relations, and Scholarship Awards at the 2008 Province Theta Convention. The men of SAE at Millsaps College are also incredibly active and remarkably successful in intramural sports. One or more of our teams frequently win their way into the final rounds of play in most of the offered sports. Furthermore, MS Delta has consistently maintained one of the highest chapter GPAs at Millsaps, significantly above the all-men’s average and the all-Greek men’s average. MS Delta’s members are the leaders of many student organizations and also take an active leadership role in student government. In addition, several of our members are varsity athletes. The talent present throughout the brotherhood at Mississippi Delta spans across the spectrum of involvement and recognition for excellence at Millsaps College and our national fraternity.
